Adjunct Faculty - Air Conditioning Technology
Adjunct faculty are responsible for presenting instruction in the specified subject area. The payment method is based on contact hours, with a rate of $27.00 per contact hour.
Instruction includes providing instruction in the theory and practical applications of Air Conditioning Technology in accordance with academic state standards. Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in Air Conditioning Technology. Instruct courses in a classroom and lab environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry. Instruct face-to-face, blended, or on-campus, as needed, in accordance with college faculty loads. Prepare standardized course syllabi using the provided template.
Assess student progress based on established course grading requirements; grade all coursework in a timely manner. Utilize current technology in the classroom and lab. Meet with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss student instructional programs and other issues. Maintain program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate for the teaching discipline. May be required to attend professional development training as required for specific classroom course delivery.
Selected candidates must be able to work morning or evening hours, Monday through Thursday.
Required education and experience includes a diploma in Air Conditioning Technology or related diploma/degree from an accredited institution. EPA Section 608 Certification. Three (3) years out of the past seven (7) years of experience in air conditioning/HVAC. Valid driver's license.
Preferred education and experience includes an associate degree in Air Conditioning Technology or related field from an accredited institution. Industry certification in the field. Directly related teaching experience at the post-secondary level. Online teaching experience.
Pay is $27.00 per contact hour. All adjunct positions are part-time, temporary positions offered on a per-semester basis based on the needs of the college. Adjunct positions do not include benefits or promises of future full-time employment. All courses are face-to-face unless otherwise indicated.

Campus locations for this pool are Carroll Campus, Coweta (CEC) Campus, Douglas (CCI) Campus, Franklin Site, Greenville Site, LaGrange Campus, and Murphy Campus. Dual enrollment courses offered at the Coweta (CEC) Campus and Douglas (CCI) Campus are Monday through Friday. Upon employment offer, a background check is required.
Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the Air Conditioning Technology program. Supports faculty to ensure all equipment is in working order. Ensure students are instructed in and follow all safety rules for operating equipment and using tools. Ensure classrooms and work areas are properly cleaned and maintained at all times.
Prepares course curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives. Prepares lesson plans for instruction. Works collaboratively with faculty within the discipline to establish, measure, and evaluate program or departmental student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success, and submits to the Air Conditioning Technology Program Director.
Skill to work cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff. Skill in the preparation and delivery of classroom and lab content. Skill to make timely decisions. Ability to break larger tasks into manageable, smaller tasks. Decision-making and problem-solving skills. Skill in accurate grading and record keeping. Skills in interpersonal relations and in interacting with the public. Oral and written communication skills.
This job operates in a professional classroom and lab environment. This role routinely uses standard office, classroom, and lab equipment and technology.
The physical demands described here are representative of those required of an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk, or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move classroom/lab equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds.
