The Associate Vice President and University Controller will oversee all accounting, financial reporting, and compliance operations. The role ensures fiscal integrity, adherence to University System of Georgia (USG) and state audit requirements, and strategic financial leadership. Responsibilities include financial reporting, accounting, asset management, purchasing, travel services, procurement, and student accounts, with 3–5 direct reports.
Responsibilities- Lead technical accounting and reporting for timely, accurate financial statements to internal and external agencies.
- Manage operating cash, short‑term investments, banking relationships, cash flow, and interest income.
- Monitor private/public ventures and escrow processes, ensuring timely reconciliations.
- Oversee shared service center operations, ensuring compliance, internal controls, and efficient service delivery.
- Serve as primary contact for internal and external auditors and maintain strong audit relationships.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance evaluation for direct reports, fostering continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with all departments to align financial strategy with institutional goals.
- Support strategic projects across the university as required.
- Master's Degree in accounting or related field, or bachelor's degree with equivalent experience.
- 7–10 years of progressively responsible leadership in accounting or financial services within a highly regulated environment.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Chartered Accountant (CA).
- Deep technical expertise in public‑sector fund accounting, GASB reporting, and financial systems.
- 10+ years of experience leading diverse, high‑performing teams in public sector or higher education.
- Experience with in the University System of Georgia or comparable public higher education system.
- Familiarity with Peoplesoft, Workday, or similar ERP systems.
- Visionary leadership and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and presentation skills.
- Robust knowledge of GAAP, FASB/GASB pronouncements, and university financial operations.
- Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive operational efficiency.
- Competitive salary range: $155,000 to $180,000 annually.
