Job SummaryKey responsibilities for this position include the following:
- 50% of the duties focus on research and development in machine learning, artificial intelligence, trustworthy multimodal and multi‑agent AI system design, AI security and risk, intelligent cyber‑physical systems, and data science.
- Develop a tail‑based risk analysis and confidence measure for detecting rare and extreme ML agents.
- Develop interdisciplinary, trustworthy, multimodal, multi‑agent AI applications for framework validation:
- AI‑driven ubiquitous application for cyber‑readiness.
- Medical applications for well‑being.
- 20% of the duties include demo preparation, coding and implementation, testbed development, testing, and result generation based on the developed Trustworthy AI infrastructure. Create audio‑video presentations to present to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- 10% of the duties include leadership, teamwork, and mentoring undergraduate student assistants in AI/ML development, Raspberry Pi, sensors, robots, server computers, edge devices, and other technologies.
- 20% of the duties involve reading existing literature and writing scientific research papers based on research and development findings to submit to a peer‑reviewed IEEE conference or journal. The GRA will be responsible for other scientific work as needed.
- Fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG (provisional admission not eligible).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent area.
- Enrolled full‑time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all graduate coursework and remain in good academic standing.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Current UWG student enrolled in a School of Computing, Analytics, and Modeling graduate program.
- Working experience in machine learning, artificial intelligence, cyber‑physical systems, embedded systems, and software development.
- Expertise in the Python platform and relevant libraries such as Tensor Flow, PyTorch, Keras, etc.
- Familiarity with IDEs such as PyCharm, Notebook, Net Beans, Eclipse, etc.
- Working capability with Linux (Ubuntu), Raspberry Pi, Windows OS, and Mac.
- Knowledge of fundamental mathematics including linear algebra, matrices, and calculus.
- Hands‑on experience with programming languages including Python, Java, C#, etc.
- Problem‑solving skills, eagerness to learn new technologies, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience in technical writing.
- Experience in developing machine learning models for the medical and cyber domains is a plus.
- Experience working on embedded systems.
- Commitment of 20 hours per week during weekdays.
- Time‑management skills to meet deadlines.
- Expected to work in person in an intelligent cyber‑physical system laboratory environment.
- Monthly stipend of $1,200.00.
- Tuition waiver reducing the semester rate to $25 plus mandatory fees for the duration of the assistantship.
- Working capability in a computer and the Intelligent Critical Cyber‑Physical Systems Lab.
- This is an ongoing and basic research project ending in December 2026.
