Responsibilities
- Responsible for assisting the Shipping Management in the control of logistics planning, coordination, and acquisition of shipping services for the operation, by performing various tasks associated with, evaluating shipping needs, obtaining, organizing, and generating the proper documentation for items to be shipped and arranging movement of freight.
- Directs and coordinates the activities of workers involved in the preparation of same-day international and domestic shipments.
Maintains and updates shipping-related systems, monitoring the shipping activities to ensure the quality of service, and customer delivery expectations consistent with company policy and performance standards. - Attention to detail is an important part of a Shipping Administrator job. He/she/they are normally required to record all pertinent information for each package shipped. This data generally includes tracking information, weight, dimensions, and special notations regarding fragility, hazardous materials, or unpacking instructions.
- Observe safe work practices, keep the work area clean plus other duties as assigned. Safety glasses and safety shoes are required.
Performs other related duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
Physical Requirements
This position is based in a plant environment where proper PPE will be required while performing tasks and duties. The position requires walking and standing for prolonged periods. As part of the regular duties of the job, this position requires the use of hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance;
stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. This position regularly lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds via team lift.
This position works in a standard office environment containing furniture and equipment needed to conduct common business activities. These items include desks, chairs, cubicle walls, phone systems and cords, fax machines, copiers, conference room tables, computer systems, and file cabinets.
Computer Skills- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Be able to type a minimum of 35 WPM.
- Familiarity with Net Suite is a plus.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English with the ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
