The RN Vascular Access Specialist (IV Nurse) has skill in inserting IVs and is able to function autonomously within the Acute inpatient and outpatient care settings to guide the management of vascular access devices in complex patient, optimizing comfort and patient outcome while reducing risk for complications of care. The Vascular Access Specialist demonstrates the ability to communicate with care providers across the care continuum to support patient evaluation, access selection and insertion as approved, early removal and supports continual development of the IV access program.
EducationAssociate Degree or 2 years of college coursework.
ExperienceTwo years of related experience. Requires working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment, and procedures.
Licenses & Certifications- Georgia Licensed Practical Nurse or Multistate Nursing License
- Healthcare Provider (CPR) or 90 days of hire
- Meets appropriate RN level requirement according to clinical ladder policy.
- Previous experience in IV therapy (includes starting IVs, assessing and maintaining sites and administering IV meds and infusions)
- BLS must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
