Nursing Peer Mentor
Nursing Peer Mentors serve as student leaders with the Tanner Health School of Nursing and have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on their peer's college experience. In this role, coaches meet with students one-on-one to serve as mentors to prelicensure BSN students. Peer mentors will help navigate and manage academic demands of the Nursing Program. Peer mentors will help foster academic success through study strategies, connecting students with campus resources and effective learning strategies.
Mentors will help students set goals, manage time effectively, troubleshoot challenges, and develop confidence in their ability to succeed.
Current enrollment in UWG and the Tanner Health School of Nursing BSN, RN-to-BSN program, MSN program, or EdD program. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and nursing program GPA of 3.2. Knowledgeable of University of West Georgia and Tanner Health School of Nursing resources and services. Have access to technology that allows virtual access to UWG student email, Course Den, and UWG resources.
Physical requirements are minimal. Working conditions will be those of the School of Nursing building or the mentor’s preferred location to work. Work may occur in person with mentor-mentee meetings held in the School of Nursing building or other campus locations or virtually.
Strong organizational skills. Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
