LPN II
The LPN II is an experienced nurse who demonstrates competency in all aspects of job requirements. The LPN functions under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The LPN provides nursing care, performs basic nursing procedures and administers medications. The LPN II acts as a resource for other employees.
EducationSee License/Certification Requirements
ExperienceTwo years of related experience. Requires working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment, and procedures.
Licenses & Certifications* Georgia Licensed Practical Nurse or Multistate Nursing License
* Healthcare Provider (CPR) or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
* NOTE:
ACLS within 6 months of hire into ED, ICU, Surgery, PACU, L&D, SSU if taking GI call, or Cath Lab.
* NOTE:
NRP within 6 months of hire into Nursery and L&D.
* NOTE:
PALS within one year of hire in PACU.
* NOTE:
SCIPP required within 90 days of hire into Willowbrooke.
* Qualifications as designated in Nursing Clinical Ladder Policy.
* CARE ACCROSS THE LIFESPAN For ages and populations served:
Demonstrates knowledge of physiologic norms, developmental levels, and age specific care. Interprets data, adapts medications and treatments. Educates and communicates effectively with patients and families.
* NURSING PROCESS Under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse, participates in patient assessment activities and the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of nursing care and other specialized tasks consistent with board of nursing rules and regulations and hospital policy.
* PROVIDING CARE Provides direct personal patient observation, care, and assistance according to the patient's established plan of care. Performs comfort and safety measures. Administers treatments and medications by various routes according to hospital policy. Demonstrates skill in prioritizing care for group of patients. Recognizes change in patient's condition, takes appropriate action, notifies the RN. Effectively understands and operates general equipment found on nursing units.
Documentation is according to hospital policy procedure and other regulatory agencies. Demonstrates knowledge of unit, departmental rules, regulations, policies procedures and standards of nursing care.
* RESPECT FOR OTHERS Demonstrates respect and caring toward patients, staff and visitors. Shows consideration for team members by reporting on time for shift and taking only allotted time for breaks. Timely attendance at unit staff meetings and mandatory in-services
* TEAM MEMBER Provides pertinent feedback concerning patient care to Charge Nurse in a respectful manner. Serves as a resource to other LPNs, new employees, students and nursing technicians. Participates in the management and supervision of unlicensed personnel in the delivery of patient care.
Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance program. Is responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Hotline.
Supervision* The LPN has limited supervisory duties but may instruct new employees, nursing technicians and correct work routines according to hospital policy and procedure.
