Security Officer I - Plant Wansley

Day (6AM to 6PM) & Night (6PM to 6AM) Positions.

• Physical abilities, drug screening & psychological testing required.
• Must qualify (and annually recertify) with issued handgun & shotgun.
• Review fleet driving verbiage at the end of the description.
• MUST POSSESS A CLEAN GEORGIA POST RECORD WITH NO CURRENT/OPEN CASES.
• Work rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends.
• Possess a valid Georgia Driver’s license.
• Minimum age 21 years.
• Must obtain an Armed Security Officer License and pass the Georgia Board background check.
• Must pass background check, physical, psychological, drug test.
• Must qualify with firearms and re‑qualify twice annually.
• Must be willing to spray pepper spray during training.
• Work rotating shifts and in severe weather conditions.
• Work weekdays, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime.

The Security Officer position is responsible for protecting Georgia Power employees, contractors, visitors and property. Enforce and administer established rules, procedures, and appropriate laws. Respond to alarms and security requests. Process personnel for access authorization to Plant Wansley and interpret procedures and regulations to make decisions regarding plant access control.

Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience Requirements:

• Must possess and/or obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
• Experience in military, law enforcement, corrections, or armed security with strong customer service background preferred.
• Knowledge of criminal justice system desired.
• Computer experience – proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Fluency in Spanish a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to learn and enforce plant security policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of company policies, local, state, federal laws and their application to private security.
• Knowledge of power plant operations.
• Administer basic first aid/CPR.

• Operate electronic security systems simultaneously.

• Must be 21 years old.
• Must meet all local, state, and federal firearm requirements for private security.
• Must obtain an Armed Security Officer License from the State Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies.
• Must pass the Georgia Board background check.
• Must pass State‑mandated private security officer training.
• Must pass background, psychological, physical, and drug tests.
