Position Overview
Jones Transportation is seeking a reliable, safety-minded, and experienced Class A CDL Truck Driver to join our fleet. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently to their destinations. Key Responsibilities- Safe Operation:
Transport, deliver, and unload (if required) freight over specified routes in accordance with local, state, and federal traffic laws. - Pre/Post-Trip Inspections:
Perform daily thorough inspections of the tractor and trailer (brakes, tires, lights, fluids, etc.) before and after trips to ensure optimal operating safety. - Logistics & Documentation:
Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records, manifest logs, and delivery receipts. - Cargo Security:
Secure cargo for transit using straps, chains, or locks, and verify that the manifest matches the loaded freight. - Communication:
Maintain open communication with dispatchers regarding route status, ETA changes, and any unexpected traffic or maintenance delays.
- License:
Must possess a valid, active Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). - Experience:
Minimum of 1–2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience (preferred). - Driving Record:
Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no major violations or recent at‑fault accidents. - Health:
Must hold a valid DOT Medical Card and be able to pass a pre‑employment DOT drug screen and background check.
Physical Requirements
- Proficient in using GPS, ELD systems, and standard smartphone applications for routing.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA and DOT regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS).
- Ability to sit for extended periods and perform physical tasks if necessary (e.g., occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, securing loads).
- Excellent time‑management skills and a professional attitude when interacting with customers at delivery docks.
