Primary

Purpose:

To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their academic achievement, on-time high school graduation, and postsecondary readiness.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification/Licensure:

* Must be 18 years of age and a high school graduate

Special Knowledge and

Skills:

* Excellent interpersonal skills

* Clear and professional verbal and written communication

* Strong organizational skills

* Bilingual preferred

Major

Responsibilities and Duties:

* Work with individual and small groups of students under the supervision of instructional staff or the credit recovery lab manager

* Conduct tutorial sessions using collaborative learning and the practice of students teaching students through discussions

* Assist in teaching study skills and other aspects of college preparation

* Communicate with their coordinator/teacher regarding student progress and areas of concern

Professional Growth and Development:

* Engage in continuous learning through AVID and related tutor trainings
