Summary of Position: Carrollton Public Schools is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and student‑centered K-8 Music Teacher to join our Shared‑Time Program. The successful candidate will inspire a love of music while fostering creativity, collaboration, and academic growth in a positive learning environment. The teacher will provide high‑quality music instruction aligned with the Michigan Academic Standards and will cultivate students’ musical knowledge, appreciation, and performance skills through engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction.
The ideal candidate will understand the diverse learning needs of elementary and middle school students, incorporate best instructional practices, and build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
Reports To:Shared Time School Principal / Carrollton Director of Shared Services
Compensation:As outlined in the Carrollton Public Schools Shared‑Time Program Salary Schedule
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum aligned with Michigan Academic Standards.
- Plan and deliver engaging music instruction for students in grades K‑8.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social‑emotional, and developmental needs of all learners.
- Foster creativity, musical expression, collaboration, and critical thinking through music education.
- Integrate music theory, performance, movement, rhythm, and appreciation into daily instruction.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and assessments to monitor student growth and achievement.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and assessment data.
- Establish a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and positive behavior.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies that support learning.
- Ensure student safety during all instructional activities.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and support staff to enhance student learning.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, and colleagues.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional learning communities, and district professional development.
- Build positive partnerships with families to support student success.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and personnel information.
- Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and dependable attendance.
- Utilize technology to enhance instruction, communication, and organization.
- Maintain music equipment, instructional materials, and classroom resources.
- Participate in school concerts, performances, and other music‑related events as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Program Coordinator.
- Knowledge of elementary and middle school music instruction.

Qualifications- Hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Music Education endorsement appropriate for grades K‑8.
- Demonstrate knowledge of child and adolescent development and effective instructional practices.
- Possess experience or knowledge in teaching vocal and instrumental music to elementary and/or middle school students.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Michigan Academic Standards for Music.
- Exhibit excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
