The Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing program activities according to Board/Administration-approved curriculum guides to fulfill the Mission Statement of Prince of Peace Christian School. Every teacher is expected to provide a Christ-centered exemplary education that equips students for leadership, service, and success, ensuring students feel welcomed, known, connected, and prepared.

In partnership with parents, teachers will fulfill the school's vision by preparing students academically, nurturing them in Christian faith, challenging them to be upright citizens, and equipping them to accomplish meaningful work that serves others. Through both example and curriculum, teachers minister to the whole child, fostering spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and social development.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities

Key Responsibilities / Duties
  • Teach Science classes to middle school students
  • Duties as a Teacher will commence according to the dates on the employment agreement, with attendance being in conformance with the official school calendar and those other days designated by the administration as Staff In-Service/Workdays
  • Possible additional responsibilities; possibly Upper School Science classes
  • Recognize that POPCS teachers have a ministerial role in the classroom, ensuring that the Christian faith and LCMS beliefs are supported and integrated into each subject, ensuring prayer and Christian discipline is an active part of the classroom environment
  • Provide planned appropriate learning experiences for the religious, social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of each child, using and/or adapting the curriculum materials approved by the POPCS School Board and/or administration for the subject(s)/grade level(s) assigned
  • Make effective long range and short range (daily lesson plans) planning plans for classroom instruction as directed
  • Grade assignments in a timely manner and in accordance with POPCS standards
  • Maintains adequate student records, uses age-appropriate procedures to evaluate students, and executes the standardized testing program
  • Show competency, good judgment, and self-control when working with children
  • Serve as a faithful Christian example in word and deed to students, parents, and coworkers
  • Seek to instill in each child a healthy attitude of self-worth and accept each as a unique child of God
  • Relate with courtesy, respect, acceptance, patience, and positivity to children, staff, and parents
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with colleagues and staff
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings, teacher in-service, conventions, first aid and CPR training as required; maintain PDC requirements
  • Read, understand, and follow all policies and procedures in the POPCS Employee Handbook, Employee Operations Manual, and Parent Student Handbook
  • Attend the Opening House at the beginning of the school year and represent the school at other special events as required by the administration
  • Communicate effectively with parents, both in writing and in in-person meeting when necessary
  • Create a pleasant, inviting classroom atmosphere in which students feel comfortable, secure, and ready to learn
  • Ensure that all equipment, materials, and supplies are appropriately cared for, cleaned, and stored each day prior to the first day of school
  • Hold Parent-Teacher Conferences with all parents on the designated days
  • Hall monitoring, carpool, and other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications , Education, and Experience
  • Active member of a Christian church, preferably a member of a LCMS church
  • A bachelor’s degree in education for the specific teaching area
  • Teacher Certification by the State of Texas; or complete within 2 years of hire
  • Previous work experience to show dependability, responsibility, and maturity

Physical Requirements
  • Able to communicate 1 on 1 and in a group setting with students and parents including listening to and speaking with them
