The ELC Lead Teacher is responsible for the general welfare and supervision of a class by performing the duties listed below in the job description. The Lead Teacher will provide a loving, Christian environment for children in accordance with the Board approved curriculum guides, as to fulfill the Mission Statement of Prince of Peace Christian School, "Providing a Christ-Centered Exemplary Education for Each Child", this Job Description, and any other duties as assigned by the Administration.

ELC Non-Lead
Key Responsibilities / Duties- Education and Curriculum
- Follows course objectives and program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of school
- Consider the needs of individual children with concerns for their interest, special talents and individual style and pace of learning when teaching the program
- Maintains order and safety in classroom and on playground
- Counsel pupils when adjustment problems arise
- Maintain and check daily the Parent Portal insuring that parents/families are informed of the student’s daily routine
- Discusses pupil’s behavior and achievements with the ELC Director
- Interactions with Parents, Staff and Early Childhood Director
- Interact with courtesy, respect, acceptance and patience to children, parents and staff.
- Assist in public relations events sponsored by the school as requested.
- Be able to substitute in other ELC class rooms when the situation shows a need if available.

- Required to perform diaper changes multiple times a day
- Ability to earn a minimum of 24 clock hours of training per teaching year through attendance at conferences, workshops, courses and other professional growth opportunities as approved by the Director. (ELC will pay registration costs and for clock hours - excluding travel time)
- Active member of a Christian church
- 21 years of age, minimum
- A high school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor Degree in early childhood education or related field (preferred)
- CPR and First Aid certification required; must be maintained by obtaining recertification as necessary (as required by school policies and State Licensing)
- Work experience to show dependability, responsibility, and maturity
- Experience working with young children in a school or similar educational setting
- Must pass background check with fingerprinting
- Flexibility and patience in working scheduled hours as assigned or as needed
- Person of prayer, strong and growing prayer and faith walk, daily Christian servant
- Optimistic, positive, joy-filled, model of professional excellence
- Conducts oneself in a professional manner and appearance
- Communicates tactfully with others
- Academically focused and proactive in preparations; nurture the heart and mind
- Love children, approachable, patient and understanding of child development stages, engaging, visible, relational, respected
- Demonstrates integrity and is willing to execute with excellence
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to physically tend to students:
- talk and to hear
- use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl
- reach with hands and arms
- sit, stand, walk
- Specific vision abilities include distance vision, and peripheral vision.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
- Be actively aware and respond to safety issues with children, equipment and self
- Clean, sanitize, and store equipment, materials and supplies daily
- Complete Incident Report regarding any injury to a child or self
- Will be exposed to illness-causing bacteria and viruses
- Operating hours for ELC Monday - Friday; 7:30AM to 6:00 PM year round
- Schedule is made accordingly to maintain room ratios during ELC open operating hours
- May need to attend meetings at the beginning of the school year prior to the official start of school
- FLSA Non-Exempt
- Attendance at conferences, workshops, courses and other professional growth opportunities may be considered as approved by Director
