Primary
Purpose:
Assist in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements for at-risk students under the supervision of a certified teacher.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED
- Associate's Degree or minimum of 48 college credits
- SBEC Paraprofessional Certification or eligible for certification
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Ability to work well with children
- Knowledge of general office equipment
Preferred Experience:
- Previous successful experience working with children
Major
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Providing one-on-one tutoring if such tutoring is scheduled at a time when a student would not otherwise receive instruction from a teacher;
- Assisting with classroom management, such as by organizing instructional materials;
- Providing instructional assistance in a computer laboratory;
- Conducting parental involvement activities;
- Providing instructional support in a library or media center;
- Acting as a translator;
- Providing instructional support services under the direct supervision of an appropriately certified teacher.
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy.

Posture: Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping

Occasional heavy lifting (over 45 pounds).
Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
Other: Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures;
