Position Overview

As a Project Engineer II at SICE Inc., you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and supporting field operations across various projects. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that foremen and crews are equipped with the necessary materials, equipment, and information to execute tasks efficiently. While reporting to the Project Manager, you will be instrumental in aligning project execution with customer objectives, all while safeguarding and promoting the interests of SICE Inc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination: Assist in all facets of project management, ensuring seamless communication between the project manager, foremen, and on-site crews.
  • Material and Equipment Management: Oversee the procurement, tracking, and delivery of project-specific materials and equipment, ensuring timely availability on-site.
  • Plan Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering plans and blueprints to guide construction activities accurately.
  • Project Planning: Participate in project planning sessions, evaluating and reviewing plans to ensure feasibility and compliance with project objectives.
  • Estimation Support: Assist in estimation activities, including quantity take-offs, submittals, reviewing provider proposals, and conducting negotiations.
  • Field Management: Monitor and support self-perform and subcontractor crews on-site, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all project activities comply with relevant safety standards and regulations, including those set by TxDOT and other DOT entities.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of project progress, changes, and any incidents, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Qualifications
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in underground scopes, including trenching, boring, and ground box (handhole) installations.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans and blueprints.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with enterprise-level platforms, including MS Office (with strong Excel skills) and Bluebeam software.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Licensing: Valid Driver’s License.
Working Conditions and Environment
  • Physical Demands: The role requires regular physical activity, including sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, and stepping over obstacles.
  • Lifting Requirements: Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Work Environment: Exposure to both indoor office and outdoor conditions, including inclement weather, heat, and humidity. Work environments may also include areas with dust, loud noise, and vibrations.
  • Safety Hazards: Potential exposure to construction site hazards such as moving machinery, power tools, electrical equipment, hazardous substances, and elevated noise levels.
  • Travel: Occasional travel to project sites and meetings as required.
Safety and Compliance
  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards, including OSHA guidelines and company-specific safety protocols.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential safety hazards on-site and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Training: Participate in ongoing safety training programs to stay updated on best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans for project sites.
Conditions of Employment
  • Engineering Degree.
  • Proficient computer/office skills (EXCEL, WORD, etc).
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Test.
  • Must demonstrate eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is a requirement for this job.
