Director of Mechanical Engineering
Location:
Carrollton, TX
Seeking an experienced Director of Mechanical Engineering to lead a team of engineers and oversee mechanical design, product development, and engineering operations. This role will manage multiple projects, establish engineering standards, and drive projects from concept through implementation while working closely with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Mechanical Engineers while maintaining accountability for project milestones.
- Oversee mechanical engineering projects from concept and design through implementation and production.
- Lead new product development, product improvements, and engineering initiatives.
- Establish and improve engineering processes, standards, workflows, and best practices.
- Set department goals and communicate priorities to engineering and senior leadership.
- Manage multiple projects and competing deadlines while ensuring milestones are met.
- Review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, BOMs, ECRs, and ECNs for accuracy and compliance.
- Utilize Solid Works for 3D modeling and engineering drawings.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, contractors, interns, and other stakeholders.
- Support root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and resolution of design-related issues.
- Recruit, retain, coach, and conduct performance reviews for engineering personnel.
- Provide technical leadership in areas such as materials, sheet metal design, mechanical systems, and heat transfer.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, with demonstrated leadership experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Solid Works and Solid Works PDM.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office and engineering documentation.
- Experience with CAE tools such as FEA and/or CFD preferred.
- Strong project management, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
