Role Overview

The Project Engineer II supports the project team across several smaller or larger complex mechanical projects and serves as the lead technical resource on smaller projects. The role sits at the center of day-to-day project execution: interpreting plans and specifications, assembling complete submittal packages and required project documentation, procuring equipment, materials, and services, and participating in the selection and hiring of subcontractors.

This position collaborates closely with management and project stakeholders and keeps them informed on every issue affecting project timeline and budget. The Project Engineer II owns change order management, ensuring changes are completed accurately, tracked as required, and their impact estimated, and expedites material as needed to hold schedule. The role is expected to analyze and resolve more complex technical questions and problems as they arise, drawing on in-depth knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and related systems design.

Responsibilities
  • Support the project team on several smaller or larger complex mechanical projects
  • Serve as the lead technical resource on smaller projects
  • Collaborate with management and stakeholders on all project matters
  • Keep management and stakeholders informed on all issues affecting project timeline and budget
  • Manage change orders and ensure they are completed accurately and tracked as required
  • Estimate the impact of project changes
  • Expedite material as needed
  • Provide interpretation of plans and specifications
  • Assemble complete submittal packages and other required project documentation
  • Procure equipment, materials, and services
  • Participate in the selection and hiring of subcontractors
  • Analyze and resolve more complex questions and problems as needed
Required Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent education, training, and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable systems design, such as HVAC and plumbing, and a general understanding of system operations
  • Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office, such as Excel
  • Authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this position
