Holy Covenant United Methodist Church Job Description

Position: Director of Finance

Reporting Responsibility: Reports directly to the Senior Pastor and SPPR committee on Church employee issues and to the Finance Chair and/or Treasurer on Finance issues.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, highly organized
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and Quick Books online
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred. Accounting/bookkeeping experience required.

Pay and compensation: Pay will be determined based on skills and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial and Budget Responsibilities
  • Data Entry
    - Invoices, Deposits, Journal Entries into Quick Books.
  • Data Entry
    - All deposits into Shepherd Staff
    - Contribution Accounts.
  • Issue weekly checks to pay bills.
    • Prepare a mid-week deposit
    • Reconcile Bank and Credit Accounts
    • Prepare Finance/Treasurer's Reports
    • Provide financial projections and analysis, cash weekly and budget monthly.
    • Advise of any unusual expenses or income.
    • Manage TMF accounts
    • Manage annual budget process
  • Payroll Responsibilities:
    • Issue payroll checks for church staff.
    • Review Quick Books payroll taxes for the church employees.
    • Review Quick Books Quarterly 941 Report for the IRS.
    • Review Quick Books Church Employees W2's.
  • Contribution Management:
    • Quarterly/Year End Contribution Statements
    • Year End Stock Contribution Letters
    • Year End Non-Cash Donation Letters
    • Cash Contribution Letters as needed
    • Run the annual Close out Report for Contributions
    • Move church contributions from Shepherd Staff to Planning Center
  • Other:
    • Prepare reports for the Annual Charge Conference and Check Out
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant agencies (Conference, IRS)
    • Organize and maintain (physically or digitally as required) all financial and payroll records
