  • Manages all aspects and Leads operations of the Specimen Processing department.
  • Identifies and triages daily tasks, Blood, Micro and COVID daily workflow.
  • Performs benchwork in the department, as needed, leads by example.
  • Conducts performance evaluations for all departmental staff personnel.
  • Performs assessment of the efficiency of the utilization of all resources in area of responsibility and makes recommendations.
  • Generates daily management reports from the laboratory system.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies utilized in the department and re-orders as necessary.
  • Ensures all courier and phleb drop-offs are recorded and run sheets signed off.
  • Reviews and submits payroll, incident, Navex and accident reports.
  • Maintains log for HIV requests and ensures proper distribution of HIV reports.
  • Develops and maintains systems for accurate and efficient processing of specimens.
  • Replaces COVID refrigerator log daily and maintains accurate records.
  • Troubleshoots problems (client, computer) as needed.
  • Schedules maintains complete coverage of all shifts including weekends & holidays.
  • Maintains and expands on working knowledge of the Laboratory Information System.
  • Maintains the performance and recording of all documentation required to ensure compliance with state regulations and all regulatory agencies (CAP, CLIA).
  • Works collaboratively with all other departments involved in to optimize productivity, quality and Client satisfaction. Contributes to process improvement.
  • Provides staff training and development in all areas of responsibility.
  • Supervises the maintenance of a safe and clean work environment according to OSHA and CLIA regulations.
  • Identifies and pursues continuing education needs.
  • Seeks coaching/mentoring when appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
