Registered Nurse; RN; Behavioral Health

Overview

Carrollton Springs-Behavioral Health Hospital, Carrollton, Texas Registered Nurse (RN), Behavioral Health – Full‑time nights. This role supports patients through assessment, planning, and delivery of high‑quality care, while leading and monitoring nursing staff during shifts.

• Accurately perform patient assessments and identify patient needs.
• Identify and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provide care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
• Perform timely and appropriate documentation related to medical necessity in the medical record.
• Complete and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Conduct timely and accurate QI assessments.
• Assess the patient and plan care within set time frames and document findings according to policies.
• Oversee and supervise the shift, delegating tasks such as group work, observation, and meal supervision.
• Ensure staff follows nursing policies and procedures and delivers exemplary patient care.
• Monitor patient for changes of condition and respond accordingly, including notifying the physician.
• Follow hospital policy for medication administration.
• Consistently use empathy, dignity, and respect when interacting with patients.
• Deliver quality nursing care to ensure that goals of the treatment plan are properly executed.
• Assist/performs comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients.

• Associate's degree in nursing required.
• Current Registered Nurse license as required by state regulations.
• Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, preferred: chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients.
• Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations.
• CPR certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
• De‑escalation certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and work in a stressful environment.
