Job Description:
The Employee Health/Infection Prevention Nurse is aRegistered Nurse who provides direct and indirect nursing care for CRMCemployees, contract employees and non-employee groups, with a particularemphasis in occupational health. Additionally, this nurse provides oversight ofthe facility’s infection prevention activities with a goal of preventinghealthcare-associated infections in patients, as well as preventing exposuresand illnesses among personnel to ensure a safe environment for all.
The EH/IP Nurse is responsible for maintaining existing policies, evaluating infection prevention practices,assessing any adverse outcomes, and reporting IP data whenever required.
She/He will use knowledge regarding infectious agents, epidemiology, and appropriate disinfection to protect patients, staff, and visitors.
- Conducts Employee Health pre-employmentvisits per organization policy.
- Monitors employee work-relatedillness and injury trends and assesses, develops, and implements strategies toprevent work-acquired injury or illness and expedite return to work.
- Collaborates with HR Benefitsteam to oversee medical Leave of Absence (LOA), FMLA, or other employee leavesto ensure employees are returned to work as appropriate.
- Performs blood borne pathogenexposure assessment, treatment, and follow-up. Works with Medical Director or Employee Health physician to ensure proper follow-up.
- Participates in preventivescreening programs (e.g., TB skin testing, influenza, hepatitis B, MMR, varicella,and other appropriate immunizations) and surveillance programs designed to identify and monitor risks to the employee’s health.
- Ensures annual health testing orother annual requirements for all employees are met (i.e., TB screening, Fluvaccines, Fit Testing, etc.)
- Perform communicable diseaseexposure follow-up. Reports to various regulatory agencies, as required.
- Identifies and refers employees with personal health needs to the EH MD, NP, or employee’s personal physicianwhen appropriate.
- Counsels employees on physical and mental health issues and guides them toward community resources and/or employee assistance programs.
