Quality Technician Position

UCT is looking for a talented Quality Technician to join us in Carrollton, TX!

The Quality Technician is responsible for supporting daily quality activities by performing inspections, measurements, testing, documentation, and data analysis to ensure products and processes meet customer and internal quality requirements. The Quality Technician will work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to identify and resolve quality issues and maintain compliance with established procedures and specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections according to work instructions, and customer requirements.
  • Perform dimensional and surface-finish measurements using tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, profilometers, CMMs, and other inspection equipment.
  • Verify product characteristics including dimensions, surface roughness, cosmetic conditions, weight, thickness, and other specified requirements.
  • Record inspection results accurately in the applicable quality system/database.
  • Identify and document nonconforming material and assist with containment activities.
  • Support NCR, MRB, RCCA, 5-Why, and corrective-action activities.
  • Quality Managers with data collection and analysis for process capability, SPC, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Perform and support Gage R&R and measurement system studies as required.
  • Maintain inspection equipment and ensure measuring instruments are properly calibrated and in good working condition and records are stored in CMMS system.
  • Review inspection plans, QIGs, and work instructions to determine inspection requirements.
  • Support customer quality requirements and provide inspection data and documentation when requested.
  • Participate in root-cause investigations and provide factual inspection/measurement data.
  • Identify trends in quality data and communicate potential issues to the Quality team.
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits by providing required records and documentation.
  • Follow all applicable safety, cleanroom, chemical handling, and quality procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, 5S/6S, and process improvement activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or relevant certification preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, or a related technical environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience using basic inspection and measurement equipment.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T, tolerances, and measurement techniques.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Basic understanding of quality concepts such as SPC, Cp/Cpk, NCR, CAPA, 5-Why, and root-cause analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects and abnormalities.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and data entry systems.
  • Ability to accurately document inspection results and maintain quality records.

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • High School Diploma/equivalent.
  • Some technician coursework/AA degree preferred.
