We are looking for an Analytical Lab Technician to support the development and optimization of processes for critical mineral recovery. In this role, you will assist the internal analytical laboratory by processing samples and reporting results in a timely manner while working alongside senior chemists & engineers to enhance efficiency and sustainability. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in an R&D laboratory applying and strengthening your lab skills.
Along with learning industry specific techniques and more on an innovative industry focused on advancing the circular economy and reducing reliance on virgin materials.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field.
- Completion of both lecture and laboratory components of General Chemistry I and II.
- Fundamental laboratory skills, including gravimetry, titrations, phase separations, and vacuum filtration.
- Experience using standard laboratory equipment such as pH meters, pipettes, and analytical balances.
- Basic understanding of laboratory safety practices and quality control procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in laboratory work.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt and work effectively in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
- Willingness to learn, follow procedures, and develop technical skills.
- Sample Preparation and Analysis
- Prepare both liquid and solid samples for analysis via Inductive Coupled Plasma‑ Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP‑OES) and Ion Chromatography (IC).
- Operate analytical instrumentation and software to analyze samples for metals and other components.
- Maintenance equipment as needed by performing routine calibrations and checks to ensure accuracy of results.
- Work closely with senior engineers, chemists, and cross‑functional teams to achieve project goals.
- Maintain accurate documentation of sample analysis and method development.
- Stay updated on industry advancements in critical mineral recovery and recycling technologies.
- Safety and Compliance
- Learn and follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards in chemical handling and laboratory process development.
- Help with and completes quality control tasks.
- Coursework in quantitative analysis and instrumental analysis laboratories.
- Hands‑on experience or working knowledge of analytical instrumentation.
- Prior experience in an R&D, research, or industrial laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with laboratory documentation, method development, or data reporting practices.
