The Research Assistant I at Houston Methodist is responsible for providing technical research support in performing experiments and managing data. Work may be conducted in a laboratory or office. Under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), the assistant helps organize, tabulate, and analyze data, maintaining accurate records.
The Antibody Discovery and Accelerated Protein Therapeutics (ADAPT) lab seeks a Research Assistant I who is excited about synthetic biology research and eager to learn and contribute. The role focuses on high-throughput genetic engineering, laboratory automation, next‑generation sequencing, and computational data management. Experience with PCR, gene cloning, sequencing, bioinformatics, scripting, and lab automation is a plus.

- Identifies opportunities for corrective action and process improvement.
- Uses resources efficiently; evaluates and reports on inventory levels.
- Assists department management in product evaluations and utilization of existing products.
- Participates in the development of new laboratory procedures and analyses.
- Trains in new techniques as they emerge.
- Seeks learning opportunities beyond baseline competencies and updates the individual development plan (IDP) continuously.
