Job Summary
The Technician, Level 1, HVAC Mechanical Apprentice is responsible for assisting with delivering and installing portable HVAC equipment. They will load, deliver, and install equipment to a variety of customer sites for emergencies or scheduled events. They will provide professional, respectful service while performing work and/or solving on-site challenges. This position reports to the Regional Service Manager, Critical Power Operations, and have no direct reports.
* The travel expectation for this position could extend up to 2 weeks at a project site, then returning home for a period of time before travelling again - Company vehicle will be provided for assigned territories.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Assist with delivery and installation of portable HVAC equipment.
- Ensure all work is performed according to safety regulations and building codes.
- Review mechanical and technical manuals, and project specifications to understand project requirements.
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems and identify solutions.
- Maintain detailed project documentation including progress reports, work orders and inspection reports.
- Coordinate problem resolution with Technical Support, Customer Service, Sales, and other personnel to expedite repairs.
- Travel to other branches or sites, as required, to assist with product installation, removal, or repairs.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure project standards are met.
- Proactively identify and address potential quality issues.
- Conduct regular quality checks throughout the project.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- A score card that reflects performance in areas such as safety, efficiency, work order completion, customer satisfaction, and issue resolution.
- Exercise high degree of time management skill, resulting in greater than 90% time billable to customers.
- Management observation regarding attitude, diligence, team contributions, and willingness and ability to learn new skills and information.
- Other key performance indicators as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, required.
- Up to 2 years HVAC mechanic experience, preferred.
- Certification from a technical school focused on Journeyman HVAC/Mechanical, preferred.
- Associate degree from an approved two-year college or university, preferred or equivalent experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license, pass a background check, and drug screen.
- May be required to pass additional requirements under the Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). general knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong desire to deepen expertise in HVAC diagnostics, service, and responsibilities, taking on more complex challenges with each year of employment.
- Working knowledge of HVAC machines and tools, including the designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with the use of test equipment e.g., Digital Variable Multi (DVM), and refrigeration test equipment.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to organize their own work and work independently, with limited supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft TEAMS platforms.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs, and across remote offices.
