Overview
Fiber Technology and Install Technology positions involve hanging wire, installing cable trays and pathways, running final dressing, labeling, and running, dressing, testing & terminating CAT5, CAT6, fiber, and coax. Main daily duties include cable installation, dressing, labeling and material management for both copper and fiber cable.
Locations & PayProject at Irving site:
Level 2 technicians required, with Level 1 technicians considered. Pay ranges from $22.00 to $30.00 per hour depending on training and experience.
Red Oak site:
Level 3 leaders (x2) leading 20–35 technicians. Pay ranges from $35.00 to $39.00 per hour. Lead tech pay for Irving site focus on DC build: $37.00 to $42.00 per hour.
Fiber splicers:
Pay ranges from $35.00 to $47.00 per hour.
- Minimum 6 months of fiber installation experience or completion of a fiber training program (e.g., Trade School, Learning Alliance, bootcamp).
- Experience with fiber splicing, testing, and copper cable work.
- Proficiency in terminating, labeling, testing, and troubleshooting optical fiber and copper installations.
- Ability to read and interpret floor plans, drawings, specifications, and cut sheets.
- Proficient in setting up copper and fiber testers.
- Strong willingness to work hard, learn on the job, and maintain a professional appearance.
- Installation of structured cabling systems including OSP, ISP, rack, stack, patch, fusion splicing, and testing.
- Perform system testing and troubleshooting.
- Assist in training installers.
- Oversee and lead job site organization and housekeeping maintenance.
