Lead Security Technician (Access Control, CCTV, Intrusion)
Network Cabling Services (NCS)is seeking an experienced
Lead Security Technician
to support and oversee the installation and execution of security system projects. This role is responsible for leading field operations, mentoring junior technicians, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The Lead Security Technician plays a critical role in project planning, execution, and field leadership. This individual will perform advanced technical work while also guiding less experienced technicians and coordinating small project teams.
Key Responsibilities Field Leadership & Project Execution- Lead and support small project teams (2–4 technicians) or phases of larger projects
- Coordinate daily field activities to ensure productivity and quality standards are met
- Conduct site walks, construction meetings, and coordinate with GCs and stakeholders
- Maintain site safety compliance, PPE requirements, and overall job site organization
- Prepare and manage:
- Material pick tickets
- Daily progress reports
- Redline drawings and labeling
- Punch lists and project closeout documentation
- Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems
- Run cabling through walls, ceilings, and floors in commercial environments
- Install and configure:
- Access Control Systems
- Wire and terminate panels with precision and quality
- Perform system testing and commissioning, including validation of performance
- Program and troubleshoot access control and camera systems
- Ensure all systems are installed and tested to meet project specifications
- Maintain accurate test results and documentation
- Support final inspections and substantial completion processes
- Deliver projects with zero quality defects and customer escalations
- Provide
on-the-job training (OJT)and mentorship to junior technicians - Lead by example in workmanship, safety, and professionalism
- High school diploma or GED required
- 3+ years of experience
in security system installation and leadership roles - Proven experience with:
- Access control systems
- CCTV and surveillance systems
- Intrusion systems
- Strong understanding of industry standards (BICSI, EIA/TIA, NEC)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Valid
Driver’s License
(required) - Ability to travel as needed
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Must pass background check and drug screening
- Complete work within
allocated labor hours - Maintain
100% quality standards
with zero inspection issues - Ensure equipment and systems are fully operational and available as scheduled
Physical Requirements
- Work in commercial construction and active job site environments
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed
- Ability to:
- Lift up to 75 lbs
- Stand, walk, climb, crawl, and work in confined spaces
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor conditions
- Required use of PPE (hard hat, safety boots, etc.)
