Staff Accountant

Description

Robert Half Contract Finance and Accounting division is looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our client in Carson City, Nevada. This is a long-term contract, possibly contract to permanent position where you will play a vital role in managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and assisting with accounting tasks to support organizational operations. The ideal candidate should be highly proficient in Excel and possess a solid understanding of accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly financial reports to ensure accurate tracking of funds.

- Monitor and document the allocation of federal funds, ensuring proper usage and compliance.

- Generate and maintain detailed records of expenditures and financial activities for audits and reviews.

- Collaborate with other departments.

- Assist with general accounting tasks, including journal entries, ledger updates, and balance sheet reconciliations.

- Utilize advanced Excel functions to analyze data and create comprehensive financial reports.

- Support tax-related processes such as sales tax and corporate tax return preparation.

- Help organize and clean up financial records to improve efficiency and address audit findings.

- Contribute to office-wide accounting efforts and special projects as needed.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions.

- Experience with government accounting or fund administration is highly desirable.

- Solid understanding of general accounting principles and practices.

- Ability to prepare accurate financial reports and reconcile accounts.

- Familiarity with tax processes, including sales tax and corporate tax returns.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and meet deadlines.
