License and Other Requirements

Must possess a Nevada license endorsed for the specific subject(s) and perform other educational functions at the level and in the field for which the person will be employed, issued in accordance with law and in full force at the time the services are rendered. All applicants must meet all highly qualified requirements. Bilingual preferred. Must be able to pass the pre‑employment drug screen test.

Summary

Teach one or more subjects to students in public schools by performing the following duties. The teacher will implement into daily student instruction appropriate educational curriculum based on the Nevada State Standards and the Carson School District expectations. The teacher will create and maintain an educational atmosphere that encourages effective student learning and supports school and district programs and goals. This person will be expected to adhere to the Nevada Educator Performance Framework (NEPF).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administer appropriate district curriculum, which is aligned with the Nevada State Standards.
  • Ensure the opportunity for all students to learn in a supportive environment.
  • Create and maintain a positive, orderly, and academically focused learning condition in the instructional environment.
  • Develop and implement the components of an effective lesson for instruction.
  • Analyze student progress and provide appropriate instruction.
  • Provide a classroom management/discipline plan ensuring safety at all times.
  • Ensure assessment regulations and guidelines are followed at all times.
  • Develop a classroom climate that promotes positive learning conditions.
  • Work professionally with administration, staff, parents, and community.
  • Integrate technology into the instructional program.
  • Participate in other job‑related duties and activities related to the position as assigned.
  • Instruct students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations.
  • Prepare course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
  • Assign lessons and correct homework.
  • Administer tests to evaluate pupil progress, record results, and issue reports to inform parents of progress.
  • Keep attendance records.
  • Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
