Duties and Responsibilities Instructional Delivery

  • Collaborate closely with the technical trainer to design and deliver integrated lessons that blend technical content with foundational academic skills and employability competencies
  • Provide contextualized and scaffolded instruction in English language development, literacy, and/or numeracy that supports the success of students at varying levels of proficiency and experience in the technical training and in the workplace
  • Use a variety of co‑teaching models and instructional strategies to make technical content accessible to learners with diverse literacy, language, and academic backgrounds
  • Foster a supportive learning environment that encourages active engagement, collaboration, and persistence
Planning and Collaboration
  • Participate in joint planning sessions with the IET team
  • Align curriculum, learning objectives, assessments, and instructional activities with program goals and the needs of adult learners
  • Coordinate the instructional flow of class sessions, determining when and how to co‑deliver or alternate responsibilities with the technical trainer
  • Provide input on equipment, materials, and instructional resources to enhance student learning
Student Support and Assessment
  • Provide meaningful feedback on student work, regularly assessing students' progress in literacy, language, and numeracy skills to inform instruction and track progress
  • Offer individualized support and resources to help students overcome barriers to learning and success
  • Monitor and report student attendance, skill development, and progression toward learning outcomes in collaboration with the IET team
Program and Professional Development
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the IET program by providing feedback on curriculum design, instructional practices and materials, and professional development
  • Participate in professional development and training opportunities facilitated by the IET specialist or College and Career Readiness division to build and achieve proficiency in IET methods and strategies
  • Allow the IET Specialist to conduct 2‑3 classroom observations, which will be scheduled in advance
  • Depending on teaching experience, be receptive to instructional coaching by the IEP team, incorporating feedback and direction as appropriate
  • Stay informed about adult education best practices and approaches to contextualized instruction, including support for English learners and underprepared learners
Qualifications
  • Required:

    Bachelor's degree (or equivalent training and experience) in Education, TESOL, Adult Education, Literacy, or a related field
  • Preferred:
    Master's Degree
  • Experience with co‑teaching models
  • Knowledge or experience in the technical field
