Special Education Paraprofessional III

Location: Carson High School

Application Period: Closes June 04 2026 or until filled.

Salary & Benefits: $21.73 to $28.11 per hour (7 hours per day, 181 days per year) with employer‑paid retirement, health and life insurance, sick leave, personal leave. Prior position must be similar in nature; written verification of employment from the previous employer is required upon hiring.

Position Summary: The Paraprofessional III supports students and teachers in an inclusive setting. Responsibilities include providing direct instructional support, implementing IEPs and behavior intervention plans, fostering a positive classroom environment, assisting with personal care tasks, and maintaining accurate documentation. Bilingual proficiency is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide direct instructional support to students with disabilities.

Implement IEPs and behavior intervention plans.

Foster a safe, supportive, inclusive classroom atmosphere.

Assist students with assignments and learning concepts.

Promote social‑emotional development.

Assist with toileting, diapering, eating, and other personal care tasks.

Collaborate with teachers and support staff on interventions.

Supervise students during activities and transitions.

Maintain accurate documentation and records.

Participate in professional development and training.

Qualifications:

High school graduation or equivalent.
Formal or informal training in child development or related field.
Experience as a Paraprofessional in a special education program.
Bilingual proficiency (preferred).
Associate’s degree or two years of post‑secondary study, or pass the state‑approved academic proficiency test.
Ability to pass pre‑employment drug screen, physical, and lift test.

Knowledge of child development, learning patterns, and behaviors.
Understanding of disabilities and related safety hazards.
Proficiency in reading, writing, and record‑keeping.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Organizational and time‑management skills.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift, carry, push or pull objects up to 100 pounds.
Good physical condition; must pass a physical examination.
Frequent reaching, handling, and fine motor activities.
Effective communication skills.

Working Conditions:

Primarily in a climate‑controlled school setting.
Exposure to moderate or loud noise levels.
Hazards related to furniture, equipment, communicable diseases, chemicals (if applicable), office equipment or machinery.
On‑campus work required.
