Salary & Benefits: $17.18 to $22.23 per hour (6 hours per day, 181 days per year) with benefits according to the classified negotiated agreement. Employer‑paid retirement, health and life insurance, sick leave, and personal leave. Per Administrative Regulation No. 311.1. Prior position must be similar in nature and written verification of employment must be submitted to Human Resources upon employment.
Note: This position begins the 2025‑2026 school year and is strictly contingent upon sufficient funding and student enrollment.

Education and Experience: High‑school graduation or equivalent; completion of formal or informal training in basic instructional techniques or a closely related field; must have an associate’s degree or two years of higher‑education study (verified by transcript) or pass the state‑approved academic proficiency test (Paraprofessional Assessment). All applicants must meet NCLB highly qualified requirements. Bilingual preferred.
Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug screen test.

Job DescriptionAssist and collaborate with teachers and related staff in classroom operations to support teaching and learning. Model and provide positive support for students in following school norms, behaviors, routines, and general life skills. Instruct diverse students individually and in small groups; perform clerical duties as required. Bilingual preferred.
Experience or Training RequiredKnowledge of children’s needs and behavior; child development concepts; diverse learning strategies; reading and writing in English; number concepts; record‑keeping techniques; basic office equipment including computers; and basic first aid.
Core Responsibilities- Communicate with students and motivate participation in learning activities.
- Support instruction in special subject matter areas; assist students with special learning needs following teacher guidance.
- Adapt to new procedures and conditions, applying knowledge and practices with judgment.
- Recognize safety hazards; understand relevant laws, rules, policies, and regulations.
- Perform routine clerical work; supervise students in classroom and outdoors.
- Administer basic first aid as needed; maintain routine records.
- Operate a vehicle responsibly and observe driving practices.
- Build proactive collaborative relationships with staff, parents, and community partners.
High‑school diploma or equivalent certificate; valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence; original Social Security Card. A current first‑aid certificate may be required.
Essential Job Functions- Work with students individually or in small groups to tutor, reinforce, or follow up learning activities.
- Assist by demonstrating and guiding students in communication, computation, self‑control, and cooperation.
- Help students sequence tasks per established guidelines; use teacher’s methods to individualize instruction.
- Supervise classroom and playground activities, ensuring safe engagement.
- Use technology to produce instructional materials and operate office equipment.
- Administer basic first aid; perform incidental housekeeping tasks.
- Teach normal oral speech patterns and personal appearance; assist learning of life skills.
- Supervise students on field trips; administer tests and informal assessments.
- Explain school rules; facilitate reading and writing skills.
- Put up bulletin board displays; communicate with parents as advised by teachers.
- Collaborate with staff, parents/guardians, and community partners positively.
- Perform related work as required.
