Job Summary

The Nevada Department of Education is seeking to multiple Education Program Professional (EPP) positions in Carson City and Las Vegas.

The first position is with the Gift and Talented Education (GATE) and Advanced Coursework in Carson City and Las Vegas. The Nevada Department of Education's Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) and Advanced Coursework EPP will provide statewide leadership, administrative oversight, and technical expertise for programs serving high-ability and college-ready learners. This position serves as the Department's primary subject matter expert (SME) for GATE and all advanced coursework pathways, including Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Dual Credit, and Honors programs.

The incumbent will be responsible for the design, management, and evaluation of statewide initiatives aimed at increasing access and equity in advanced studies. This includes overseeing the legal identification and service protocols for gifted pupils and managing the state-mandated approval process for Dual Credit courses between Local Education Agencies (LEA) and institutions of higher education. This position will also provide expertise in the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of statewide initiatives and projects aligned with the Department's strategic priorities, including the Statewide Plan for the Improvement of Pupils (STIP).

The duties performed by this position include providing technical assistance and the development and delivery of professional learning for educators on differentiated instruction, curriculum acceleration, and college-level course integration. As a critical liaison, the incumbent will communicate with internal NDE divisions, LEA's, the Statewide Gifted and Talented Advisory Council, and national partners such as the College Board and International Baccalaureate Organization.

The incumbent will maintain established goals for program success, manage grant funding for advanced programs, and ensures that all district-level advanced offerings meet rigorous state standards and regulatory compliance requirements.

The second position is with the Office of Teaching and Learning in Carson City only. The Office of Teaching and Learning's EPP provides leadership, technical assistance, consultation, and programmatic support for the implementation and continuous improvement of Nevada's Read by Grade 3 (RBG3) Program in alignment with state and federal requirements, the Nevada State Literacy Plan, and evidence-based literacy instruction. Support the development, implementation, evaluation, and reporting of NDE's policies, guidance, resources, and professional learning related to early literacy, literacy assessment, intervention, and instructional practices.

Collaborate with internal offices, school districts, charter schools, regional professional development programs, institutions of higher education, and state and national organizations to advance statewide literacy initiatives and improve student outcomes. Serve as the OTL and NDE representative on committees, task forces, advisory groups, and cross-office initiatives related to literacy, curriculum, assessment, instructional materials, and educator professional learning. Provide structure and content expertise in the review of instructional materials, grant administration, data-informed decision making, and other statewide initiatives that support high-quality literacy instruction.

Education Programs Directors, Supervisors, and Professionals assist and foster the growth of early childhood, pre-K, K-12, postsecondary, adult, and related education programs throughout Nevada by providing technical assistance, training, and oversight.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, psychology, science, sociology, or related field and one year of related experience applicable to the current vacancy.

Assist and foster continuous improvement of educator preparation, recruitment, development, recognition, and retention programs. Assist and foster the improvement and growth of assigned education programs; develop tools and resources used by local agencies to accomplish required or desired objectives. Provide technical assistance to statewide councils, commissions, boards, and task forces by preparing agendas, meeting materials, and researching and presenting information. Provide training, technical assistance, and outreach regarding education program legal requirements and best practices individually or in group sessions.
