  • Serve as primary point of contact for military- and veteran-related benefit inquiries and academic advising
  • Advise active-duty service members, veterans, dependents, civilian employees, and general population students on degree, transfer, career, and credit-for-prior-learning pathways
  • Provide on-site advising at Fallon Naval Air Station
  • Serve as an Allied Health program resource/expert
  • Monitor military and veteran student progress and conduct regular check-ins
  • Develop and execute enrollment, retention, and completion strategies
  • Develop onboarding tools including checklists, orientations, and resource guides
  • Lead program evaluation and develop annual reports, performance metrics, and continuous improvement strategies
  • Report retention, persistence, and completion data to the Enrollment Management Committee and college leadership
  • Complete the annual NSHE Veteran Report
  • Oversee Military and Veteran One-Stops in Carson and Fallon, including staffing, coverage, budgets, and VA work-study contracts
  • Provide referrals to non-educational VA resources and train the campus community on veteran support resources
  • Serve as backup School Certifying Official
  • Manage DoD and NAS Fallon Memoranda of Understanding and complete DoD MOU audit processes
  • Liaise with branch Education Services Officers and serve as point of contact for Tuition Assistance questions
  • Track and support Tuition Assistance students
  • Maintain WNC program information and database records in MyCAA systems
  • Represent the college at community organizations, outreach activities, tabling, and veteran-focused events
  • Collaborate with the Controller’s Office, Financial Assistance Office, School Certifying Official, Admissions & Records, college leadership, and community stakeholders
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling or another field relevant to the role
  • Three years of related professional experience in student services, academic counseling/advising and/or program development
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree is required when substituting education and experience
  • Knowledge of Tuition Assistance (TA), GI Bill Benefits, and National Guard
  • Knowledge of program planning/development and evaluation
  • Knowledge of data analysis and assessment methods
  • Knowledge of college and NSHE system policies and practices
  • Familiarity with WNC’s service area and demographics
  • Intermediate proficiency with spreadsheets and databases
  • Proficiency with various technology platforms
  • Cultural competence and diversity awareness
  • Ability to communicate clearly, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, work collaboratively, maintain confidentiality, and guide students through complex processes
  • Resume required

  • Criminal background check may be required
  • Official transcript of highest degree may be required for credential verification
