Transportation Engineer

We are actively looking for a Transportation Engineer entry-level to join our Carson City office. As part of the Transportation Group, the Transportation Engineer will provide engineering design support on a variety of projects – roadway, municipal, port, or rail design and develop plans for projects.
The best candidate will be familiar with a variety of civil engineering projects related to transportation.

- Perform engineering design tasks for roadway, municipal, rail and port projects from preliminary to final design
- Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages
- Begin to foster relationships with regulatory agencies, local government, NDOT and state clients, as well as private clients
- Provide engineering design services for traditional design and design-build highway projects
- Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans, including but not limited to implementation and knowledge of cross sections, traffic control, drainage, and signing and pavement markings plans
- Assist in coordinating design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers
- Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance
- Identify schedule and cost variances and develop and implement recommendations for corrective actions

Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation related engineering; required
- 0 to 2 years of experience designing transportation/roadway engineering projects; required
- Previous internship experience desired
- EIT licensure or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date; required
- Software experience required:
- Microstation/Geopak, Open Roads Designer
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Bluebeam Revu and/or Adobe Acrobat
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation); required
- Availability and willingness to travel
- All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Physical requirements:
Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
