Associate Engineer

The Nevada Department of Transportation is hiring a Staff 1, Associate Engineer in Carson City to support the planning, cost estimation, and delivery of transportation projects statewide. The incumbent will work under senior engineering personnel on project planning, data integrity, system testing within the Masterworks system, and review of cost estimates. The role blends technical expertise with project management, including early‑stage design support for roadway geometrics, quantity calculations, and preliminary cost estimates.

• Certification as Engineer Intern by Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, OR Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or closely related field, OR two years of journey level t
• Valid driver's license required at time of appointment
• Working knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
• Skills in engineering principles and practices; ability to read technical plans, specifications, and reports
• Ability to plan, organize, and schedule work; work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with contractors, co‑workers, and government agencies
