Do You Enjoy Solving the Problems That Happen After a Product Reaches Production?

As a Sustaining Engineer, you’ll help ensure existing aerospace fastener products continue meeting demanding requirements for performance, quality, reliability, and manufacturability.

You’ll investigate product failures, perform root cause analysis, make design and documentation changes, troubleshoot production issues, and work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to improve processes, quality, yield, and efficiency.

You won’t be engineering in a silo. You’ll work across Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Field Applications, and customers to take technical problems from identification through resolution.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Provide ongoing engineering support for existing aerospace fastener products
  • Investigate product failures and technical issues and perform root cause analysis
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Support product changes, design improvements, and value engineering
  • Maintain and update CAD models, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Review engineering changes and ensure proper implementation into production
  • Work directly with Manufacturing to troubleshoot production and process issues
  • Improve product manufacturability, cost effectiveness, quality, and reliability
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to improve workflows, reduce waste, and increase product yield
  • Ensure products and processes meet aerospace quality and regulatory requirements
  • Support customer and field-performance concerns
  • Work with Field Applications Engineering on product applications and technical solutions
  • Analyze product and manufacturing data to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage multiple engineering priorities while owning problems through resolution What We’re Looking For
    • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
    • 3+ years of experience in sustaining engineering, product design, or manufacturing within aerospace or the fastener industry
    • Strong CAD experience with Solid Works, CATIA, or similar software
    • Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings
    • Experience troubleshooting product and manufacturing problems
    • Root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action experience
    • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing and quality requirements
    • Familiarity with AS9100, FAA, NADCAP, or related aerospace standards
    • Experience maintaining engineering drawings, specifications, and product documentation
    • Ability to work across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and customer-facing teams
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities
    • Self-starter who can take ownership of technical problems and drive them through resolution
    Preferred Experience
    • Aerospace fastener or aircraft hardware experience
    • Sustaining engineering within an aerospace manufacturing environment
    • CATIA and/or Solid Works
    • PLM system experience
    • Experience developing or maintaining a PLM system
    • ERP/MRP experience
    • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
    • Manufacturing process and product-yield improvement
    • Aerospace customer or field application support
    • CAPA / corrective action
    • Value engineering and cost reduction
