Interim Controller

Description

Robert Half Contract Finance and Accounting is seeking highly experienced Interim Controller or Senior Accounting Consultant to step in and provide strategic financial leadership and oversight for our client in Carson City. In this long-term contract position, you will play a key role in stabilizing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and developing sustainable accounting policies. This opportunity is ideal for someone with extensive experience in auditing, financial statement preparation, and policy development.

Responsibilities:

- Assess and restructure the organization's financial records to ensure accuracy and alignment with established standards.

- Collaborate directly with auditors to streamline processes and provide timely, comprehensive responses to inquiries.

- Identify and address gaps in accounting practices that may hinder audit progress, implementing long-term solutions.

- Develop and refine accounting policies and procedures to enhance compliance and reduce audit risks.

- Prepare financial statements internally to minimize reliance on external auditors.

- Ensure all financial reports are audit-ready and meet high standards of accuracy and completeness.

- Offer high-level strategic guidance to maintain organized and efficient financial operations.

- Create actionable plans to sustain accurate financial reporting and compliance beyond the duration of the contract.

Requirements

- Current CPA license and extensive experience in auditing or controllership roles.

- Proven ability to organize and optimize disordered accounting environments.

- Strong knowledge of internal controls, audit workflows, and financial reporting standards.

- Demonstrated expertise in developing policies and procedures from the ground up.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with auditors and stakeholders.

- Familiarity with monthly financial close processes and preparation of financial statements.

- Ability to provide strategic guidance without engaging in daily transactional accounting tasks.
