As the leading line of business, UMB's bottom line is directly impacted by the growth of our commercial portfolio. This team manages Commercial and Industrial relationships throughout its life cycle, developing meaningful connections with management of the companies they serve and staying mindful of changes that might alter their financial service needs.

• Build and drive Practice Finance Strategy to ensure growth and profitability for the segment.
• Provide strategic direction and leadership to PF Relationship Officers to pursue development of new and existing customer accounts.
• Manage budget, FTE, recruitment, portfolio growth, and related P&L items.
• Provide strategic direction, strategy, and training to markets without a dedicated Practice officer to drive Practice growth there.
• Sustain profitability and annual growth of sales of financial products and services through commercial lending, asset-based lending, and banking services to small business accounts via designated staff.
• Plan and execute regional sales meetings.
• Develop revenue, volume, and market share objectives for assigned staff and market area.
• Monitor and manage existing credit relationships, including note renewals, detailed financial statement and collateral analysis, credit analysis, cash flow analysis, delinquency reporting, exception documentation, covenant monitoring, and compliance reporting.
• Participate in community and professional activities to enhance the bank’s image and expand personal network for new business and banker recruitment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree.
• Have 9+ years of business banking or commercial banking experience.
• Have 5+ years of management experience.
• OR any combination of education and experience that provides an equivalent background.
• Possess proven people and project management skills; ability to motivate direct reports and partners to action.
• Possess excellent relationship, new business development skills and desire to consistently achieve top revenue results.
• Have exceptional analytical skills, performance and metrics tracking.
• Have ability to evaluate and select talent.
• Demonstrate superior strategic sales knowledge selling to small business owners.
• Demonstrate high level of business banking product knowledge and product innovation.
• Have knowledge of market/industry trends.
• Demonstrate ability to source/produce efficient credit opportunities.
• Have knowledge of credit and operational risk; ability to quantify potential exposure and advise team.
• Have understanding of credit underwriting.
• Have extensive knowledge and understanding of commercial lending practices and loan documentation/loan servicing requirements.
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of financial analysis, including ratio and trend analysis and projections.
• Have thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

• Understand strategic sales planning to define target markets and approaches.
• Specialized knowledge of specific markets to serve defined industries.
• Enhanced communication and negotiation skills for complex deals and relationships.
