We’re delivering low‑cost, large‑scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.

Payroll Manager

The Payroll Manager leads and oversees the end‑to‑end payroll process for the organization (approximately 1,200 employees). This position ensures payroll accuracy, compliance with all applicable laws, and timely processing. The Payroll Manager collaborates with internal and cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate and efficient payroll.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in Oracle WMS, ensuring timely updates for all movements and adjustments to minimize discrepancies.
  • Oversee and manage the full‑cycle payroll process for a multi‑state workforce, ensuring timely and accurate bi‑weekly/semimonthly payroll processing.
  • Supervise and support a payroll team of two, providing mentorship, performance management, and workflow coordination.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Review and approve payroll entries, adjustments, retroactive payments, garnishments, and tax with holdings.
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of payroll taxes, year‑end processes including W‑2s, and other statutory reporting.
  • Partner with HR and Finance to reconcile payroll‑related accounts and support audits and month‑end close processes.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
  • Manage payroll systems and act as the point of contact for system upgrades, integrations, or vendor relationships.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll regulations and ensure company practices remain compliant.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance/Accounting, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in management or senior‑level role.
  • Strong knowledge of multi‑state payroll processing, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, Ulti Pro, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform essential job functions in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and other relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10lbs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively on the telephone, including listening and speaking.
Working Conditions:
  • Office setting, manufacturing floor.
  • Occasional exposure to noise.
  • Required to extended hours as needed.
  • 10% of the time, occasional travel, or frequent travel for meetings, site visits, or events.

The position is full‑time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
