IT Project Manager
Overview
Information Technology (IT) Managers are responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the IT activities, in one or more IT specialization areas, of the State, a department, or a division. Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and seven years of progressively responsible professional IT experience which involved strategic planning, project management, quality assurance, and computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, or information security.
Four years of this experience must have been in a supervisory or project manager capacity; OR one year of experience as an IT Manager II in Nevada State service; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional IV in Information Security in Nevada State service for Information Security positions; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
This is an IT Manager III position with the Governor s Technology Office (GTO) for the State of Nevada. This position will be located in Carson City and will be responsible for the direct supervision of the Networking and Unified Communications Unit. Ensures work performance standards and reviews for the entire section are current and applying disciplinary actions. Define, create and establish procedures and standards to effect efficient operations within the units and maintain staff efficiency and accountability.
Develop the biennial budget based on departmental and customer requirements, for developing utilization reports to aid in customer agency and GTO s budget forecasting. The desired incumbent will assist the Division Chief IT Manager in developing and managing the division’s budget, including forecasting, procurement, and expenditure tracking. Implement the approved budget for the units; justify any recommendation for augmenting any area of the budget to meet division or customer demands that were not foreseen in the development of the budget;
develop, maintain, and enforce operational standards in accordance with departmental and State policies to ensure that operational specifications are met. Incumbent will create operational policies and statewide standards set by GTO, the Division Chief, and approved guidelines.
Detailed knowledge of: budget preparation and control; project management; quality control. Working knowledge of: strategic planning.
