Position Overview
This is a recruitment for an IT Technician II within the Client Services Division of the Governor's Technology Office. The position is based in Carson City, NV and works under the Service Desk Supervisor and Manager. The role provides support to all State agencies’ employees, delivering quality customer service by answering calls and offering one-stop shopping for users. Responsibilities include supporting desktop, network, hardware, and software issues, installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining Windows‑based desktop PCs, laptops, PDA phones, NHP/MDC tablets, mobile hand‑held devices, servers, network equipment, and peripherals across Nevada.
Incumbents may also fix PCs, monitor the network, and assist with Service Desk user support.

Responsibilities- Provide help desk support for computer hardware, software, peripherals, and current technology.
- Use help desk applications for change/problem management.
- Maintain knowledge of commercially available operating systems and applications used by the agency.
- Monitor and maintain system and peripheral devices, and apply user password security principles and practices.
- Communicate with higher‑level IT staff and users to facilitate resolution of computer problems.
- Monitor inventory, request supplies, and plan, layout, and document technical materials.
- Participate in policy and procedure development, review, and maintenance.
- Perform related duties as assigned under general supervision.

Mainframe and Server Operations- Work with computer hardware, software, peripherals, and current technology for mainframe and server operations.
- Understand data processing systems, job control language or system language, and job recovery procedures.
- Communicate with higher‑level IT staff to resolve program/job quality issues.
- Monitor inventory, request supplies, perform production set‑ups, prioritize workload, provide quality control, read job schedules, and submit jobs using computer input devices.
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Three years of experience with fundamentals of computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals.
- One year of IT work in a user support role, or a year as an IT Technician I in Nevada State service.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
