Oversees all aspects of the fiber optic field and office operations in the telecommunications division, including construction, engineering, project delivery, financials, logistics, workforce management, and compliance. This senior leadership role ensures that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while upholding company standards, delivering first class customer service and regulatory requirements. A key component of this position involves strategic leadership in safety culture, compliance, and risk management.

- Lead and manage field and back‑office operations across underground, aerial, fiber, wireless, splicing, and maintenance teams.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to optimize construction processes, workforce deployment, and resource utilization.
- Monitor KPIs related to project completion, productivity, financial performance, and quality metrics.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency.
- Oversee high‑profile telecom builds including fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), small cell, long‑haul, data centers, and middle‑mile projects.
- Coordinate with engineering, permitting, procurement, PMO, and client services to ensure smooth project execution.
- Support bidding, pricing, and forecasting efforts by providing field‑driven operational insight.
- Ensure proper hiring and training is completed, and mentor operational managers, project managers, foremen, and key field staff.
- Foster a proactive, “zero incident” safety culture that values reporting, prevention, and continuous learning.
- Participate in the investigation and root cause analysis of serious incidents, utility strikes, and near misses.
- Approve corrective action plans and ensure lessons learned are disseminated across departments.
- Hold managers accountable for enforcing safety policies, conducting job hazard analyses, and leading tailgate meetings.
- Conduct periodic jobsite visits and executive‑level safety walks with operations and safety staff.
- Review jobsite safety audits, behavior observations, and compliance reports regularly.
- Set and enforce safety expectations for subcontractors and third‑party vendors.
- Ensure vendor prequalification includes review of safety records, EMR, insurance, and training certifications.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and elevate repeat violations or non‑compliance.
- Must have 10+ years’ experience in fiber optic and telecommunications construction management.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related industry, or advanced training in the field.
- Extensive knowledge of telecommunications construction projects, timelines, and requirements.
- Ability to create and maintain a positive and safe work environment.
- Solid leadership skills, ability to develop and train and direct a team to meet goals with excellence in customer service. No shortcuts.
- Solid communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, accountable with excellent time management skills. What You’ll Need
- Must have 10+ years’ experience in fiber optic and telecommunications construction management.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related industry, or advanced training in the field.
- Extensive knowledge of telecommunications construction projects, timelines, and requirements.
- Ability to create and maintain a positive and safe work environment.
- Solid leadership skills, ability to develop and train and direct a team to meet goals with excellence in customer service. No shortcuts.
- Solid communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, accountable with excellent time management skills.
- Extensive knowledge of safety regulations.
- Certified in OSHA Competent Person, trench and excavation, confined space, OSHA 10‑hour.
- Computer proficiency with Google, Excel, Word, and experience using electronic devices including iPhone and iPad.
