Quality Assurance Engineer

Full Time | Carson City, NV, US | Salary: $80,000.00 – $ Annually

Vitesse Systems is looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join the team in Carson City, NV!

Relocation Option

This position is eligible for a relocation bonus (eligibility terms apply). Relocating to Carson City, Nevada means you get no state income tax, a lower cost of living, and short commutes. You are just 30 minutes from Reno and Lake Tahoe, and about a two‑hour drive from Sacramento, California.

The Role

The Quality Assurance Engineer ensures production exceeds customer expectations and complies with internal and external quality requirements (ISO/AS/NADCAP). Commitment to and support of the Company Core Values is key to success in this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicates customer, regulatory, and organizational requirements to assure product quality, contract compliance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinates necessary personnel for internal, customer, and third‑party quality system audits.
  • Direct internal audit programs and efforts.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations and Program Management to ensure internal, industry and customer specifications are reasonably and effectively identified and executed upon.
  • Design Quality Plans for new and existing programs.
  • During and at the completion of production, sign off on quality plans/work instructions and verify their completeness.
  • Identify potential areas for improvement and follow through on implementation of process changes.
  • Lead MRB meetings (disposition and corrective action as needed).
  • Maintain a corrective action system to analyze and correct nonconforming conditions and complaints.
  • Maintain a specification database, ensuring revisions are current and up to date.
  • Develop rework processes (when necessary) with Manufacturing.
  • Collect FAIR/Qualification documentation when needed.
  • Work with suppliers to improve quality, reduce scrap/rework, lower cost/lead times.
  • Identify opportunities to apply SPC analysis.
  • Manage calibration of measuring tools (performed by outside vendor).
  • Issue and process NCRs, RMAs, and other quality alert documentation.
  • Prepare certification packages for production shipments.
  • Review and approve incoming supplier certifications.
  • Uphold the company core values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Excellent attention to detail & communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Software proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • 1 to 3 years prior Quality Engineering experience, preferably in Aerospace or Contract Manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 1 year exposure within an AS9100 environment. (AS9100 Lead Auditor certified desired).
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and competing demands.
  • Experience creating in‑process inspection control plans.
  • Experience working with Engineering/Production to troubleshoot issues and defects.
  • Experience with quality tools and methodologies in a production environment.
  • Certification by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB), or Certified Quality Manager (CQMgr) preferred, not required.
  • Experience with quality improvement tools and techniques (i.e., Lean, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, and Failure Mode & Effects Analysis) required.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen & background check per Vitesse’s pre‑employment requirements.
