Quality Engineering
The Quality Technician supports PCC Carson City's Quality Department by performing a variety of quality, laboratory, inspection, and compliance support activities within a manufacturing environment. This position serves as a hands‑on resource to the Quality Team by supporting product verification activities, dimensional inspections, specification reviews, laboratory coordination, NDT documentation support, and quality-related projects.
Working closely with Quality Engineers, Inspectors, Laboratory personnel, Production, and Operations, the Quality Technician helps ensure products, processes, and documentation meet customer, regulatory, and company requirements while supporting daily production activities on the manufacturing floor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Quality Inspection & Product Verification- Perform visual and dimensional inspections using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other measurement equipment.
- Perform product audits and verification activities to ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality requirements.
- Review and interpret drawings, specifications, technique cards, and work instructions.
- Verify product conformance and identify discrepancies requiring additional review.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and supporting documentation.
- Support metallurgical laboratory activities and coordination.
- Process laboratory purchase orders and assist with laboratory documentation.
- Assist with collection, organization, and reporting of laboratory testing results.
- Support testing documentation and record retention requirements.
- Coordinate laboratory‑related administrative activities as assigned.
- Review customer specifications and regulatory requirements and coordinate revision changes through the appropriate review process.
- Support maintenance of controlled quality documentation, procedures, forms, and records.
- Assist with updates to operating procedures, work instructions, and testing documentation.
- Support NDT documentation and technique revisions as assigned.
- Maintain accurate quality records and ensure proper document retention.
- Support Production, Quality, Engineering, NDT, and Laboratory personnel with day‑to‑day quality activities.
- Participate in quality improvement projects and process reviews.
- Assist with implementation of corrective actions and quality initiatives.
- Support product flow by helping resolve quality‑related issues and documentation concerns.
- Maintain strong communication across departments to support production and compliance objectives.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with 6S standards.
- Follow all plant and department safety requirements.
- Support special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support department and business objectives.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform inspection tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and maneuver up to 35 pounds independently; heavier items require assistance or lifting devices.
- Ability to use precision tools requiring fine motor skills and attention to detail.
- Work performed in manufacturing and inspection environments with exposure to noise, dust, and equipment.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field.
- Previous manufacturing, aerospace, quality, inspection, or laboratory experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and related business software.
- Experience using precision measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Knowledge of GD&T.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
