Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer
The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in supporting PCC Carson City’s manufacturing operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production and facility equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient performance.
Working under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor
, you’ll diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system issues, perform preventive maintenance, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
This role offers a progressive career path (Trainee–Level
3), allowing you to grow from foundational technical support into advanced diagnostics and technical leadership. We are also considering applicants at all levels for this position.
A highlight of your day-to-day will include:
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Performing preventive and corrective maintenance to reduce downtime
- Reading and interpreting manuals, schematics, and technical drawings
- Troubleshooting motors, drives, pumps, valves, conveyors, furnaces, and auxiliary systems
- Troubleshooting motors, sensors, switches, relays, and basic control circuits
- Supporting PLC-controlled equipment and temperature systems (varies by level)
- Performing welding and fabrication repairs on equipment, fixtures, and structural components
- Following lockout/tagout, confined space, and all plant safety procedures
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Identifying and reporting unsafe conditions
- Completing maintenance work orders and equipment logs
- Communicating equipment status, root causes, and corrective actions
- Supporting department and company objectives as needed

Maintenance Technician – Trainee (Entry)
- High school diploma or GED (technical program preferred)
- Developing foundational skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Assists with:
- Preventive maintenance
- Equipment cleaning and lubrication
- Facility upkeep and organization
- 1–3 years of maintenance experience or equivalent training
- Basic troubleshooting in mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Introductory electrical troubleshooting skills
- Works under close supervision while building independence
- 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience
- Strong troubleshooting across mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Working knowledge of electrical systems and controls
- Performs independent repairs and may mentor junior technicians
- 5+ years of advanced experience
- Expert troubleshooting across all systems
- Leads complex repairs and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provides technical guidance and training
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and bend for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs independently (heavier with assistance)
- Comfortable working in industrial environments with noise, heat, and machinery
- Ability to use tools and diagnostic equipment for extended durations
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, Day Shift
- Pay Range: $18–$35/hour (based on experience)
