The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours.

• Four years (4) of progressively responsible experience under the supervision of journey level trades persons in two (2) or more of the major building or mechanical trades which included responsibility for performing a variety of repair and maintenance activities, laying out jobs and ordering materials; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
• A valid Class “C” Nevada driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
• Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety.
• Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
• This position requires working with and around hazardous building materials, frequent lifting, climbing, and moving heavy objects; vibration and electrical hazards; and working in small spaces and on ladders.
• This position requires working in inclement weather.

• Interpret blueprints, schematics and local building codes to perform maintenance and repair projects.
• Repair, construct, and maintain buildings, grounds and equipment; plan, layout and initiate cost estimates for projects; coordinate with outside vendors to bid parts and receive cost estimates.
• Perform maintenance and repair for plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC.
• Maintain and test all backflow devices, plumbing fixtures and water heaters, repair existing fixtures, toilets, urinals, sinks and drinking fountains, and open clogged drains.
• Follow the International Building Code (IBC) and Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) as well as state and local code requirements.
• Maintain the roofing of buildings, perform carpentry and electrical installations, and perform other duties as assigned.

Grade 30 Minimum:
Grade 30, Step 01. Annually $54,810.00. The classified employee pay scale is divided into 10 steps within each grade. Most employees start at a step 1 and are eligible for an annual step increase with satisfactory performance, until they reach the maximum, step 10. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets, and Nevada Administrative Code.

Classified employees are eligible for any legislatively approved cost of living increases (COLA).

• Retirement – Public Employees’ Retirement System of Nevada (PERS) Employees are required to participate in The Public Employees’ Retirement System of Nevada (PERS) upon hire, a defined benefit plan. Members are eligible for retirement benefits after a 5-year vesting period. Employees contribute under either a post-tax plan, with the employee and college each contributing 19.25% of the employee’s salary (38.5% combined contribution);
  
  or under a pre-tax plan with the college contributing 36.75% of the employee’s salary on their behalf with employees paying for their half of the PERS contribution through a pre-tax salary reduction.
