The City of Carson is now accepting applications for the Administrative Intern III position. We are seeking motivated current college and university seniors, as well as recent college and university graduates, who are eager to gain hands on experience in a professional municipal environment. This opportunity provides valuable exposure to local government, allowing interns to develop practical skills, contribute to meaningful projects, and support City programs and services.
Theideal candidate is:
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Eager to support administrative operations and departmental initiatives.
- Comfortable assisting with data entry, event coordination, and project support.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications or similar software, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software programs and systems.
This is a part-time position (FLSA: non-exempt), limited to 960 hours per fiscal year. Typical work schedule will vary between the business hours of 7 am to 6 pm, Monday to Thursday.

Job Summary:Under direction, performs professional administrative duties in support of divisional or departmental operations.
(These functions are representative and may not be present in all positions in the class. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind related duties and work assignments.)
- Must be enrolled in a college or university as a senior or graduate student or must have graduated from a 4-year college program within the last six months and have the equivalent of 6 months full-time administrative, para-professional, technical or advanced clerical work experience.
- Modern English usage.
- Mathematics, including statistics.
- Research and analytical methods.
- Personal computers and related software applications.
- Methods of report presentation.
- Compile, review and evaluate data.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Learn City organization, operations, policies and objectives.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Deal tactfully with the public.
