Position Description
The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites highly qualified, motivated, and well‑organized applicants for a pool of part‑time teaching appointments. The pool is continuously open, positions are filled as needed based on enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. Fall term: late August – mid‑December. Spring term: mid‑January – mid‑May.
Summer sessions may also be available.
Teach assigned upper‑division courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on the assigned teaching unit load.
Qualifications Required Qualifications- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or related discipline.
- Preference for candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and evidence of strong teaching.
- Experience teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
- A master’s degree in a relevant field or related discipline.
- Ph.D. or extensive professional experience required for teaching upper‑division core courses (300‑ or 400‑level).
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required. Employment is conditional and may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information or if the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
Additional InformationInitial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2023, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
- Lecturer A: $5,007–$6,359
- Lecturer B: $5,925–$12,594
- Lecturer C: $6,500–$13,831
- Lecturer D: $8,184–$14,487

International Transcripts US Equivalency Requirements:
United States (US) Equivalency certification is required for earned/awarded/conferred foreign terminal degrees. The certification validates foreign studies from an academic credential evaluation agency and is evaluated on foreign studies and deemed equivalent to degrees from the United States. It must translate the information into English and confirm that your highest terminal degree is US Equivalent to a US terminal degree.
