Position Description

The School of Nursing at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), invites highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized nurse applicants for a pool of part-time teaching appointments.

Responsibilities

Teach assigned online or hybrid undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral courses in the department’s nursing curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load. Engage in activities to maintain currency in the field such as clinical practice, coursework, conference attendance, and continuing education classes. Participate in assessment of program learning outcomes and ongoing improvement of instruction to support student learning outcomes.

Clinical instructors have additional responsibilities related to the clinical site, student compliance with clinical agency requirements, oversight of the student, and communication with the preceptors. Select clinical courses require faculty to be on-site at the clinical facility with the students.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Appropriate experience related to the subject of the course(s) assigned.
  • Applicants must have experience in teaching adult learners from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level with furnished evidence of strong teaching.
  • A Doctoral degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
  • Experience teaching online.
Employment Requirement

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Information

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
